A new report by Toyo Keizai Online exposes the horrific reality of forced labor in the Southeast Asian fishing industry. The article features an interview with Patima Tungpuchayakul, a human rights activist who has dedicated her life to rescuing fishermen from slavery. Her organization, the Labour Protection Network (LPN), has documented numerous cases of men tricked into working on fishing vessels, only to be forced to endure years of abuse with little to no pay.
